To behold isn’t just to see—it’s to belong to. This meditation invites you to drink in an element of nature first using your eyes and then the whole of your being.

Slow your stride as you move through nature, just you would in any sacred space.

Whatever time is available to you is just the right amount, whether 15 seconds, 15 minutes, or an hour or more.

Meditation

Step 1: Grounding

  • Close your eyes
  • Take a deep breath–ahh
  • Feel Mother Earth supporting you
  • Notice how She holds all your weight
  • Take another deep breath–ahh
  • Imagine your feet are like a root system,
    • ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤpulling energy up from the ground into your body
    • and through to the crown of your head
  • Open your eyes

Step 2: Gazing

  • Walk gently through nature, free of expectations
  • What element calls to you?
  • Gaze at the element
  • What drew you in?
  • Now, look closer
  • Take in every detail…
    • notice its shape, color and texture,
    • its hardiness or fragility
    • see its unique qualities
  • Consider what makes it true to itself…
    • what makes it alive
  • Moving your attention to your heart,
  • Can you detect an energy to this element?
    • if so, how does that energy feel?
  • You may desire to capture your experience in a journal, voice memo or photo

Step 3: Gratitude

  • Take a deep breath
  • Behold the element one last time
  • Close with an offer of gratitude
