We design Unearthing Experiences to suit both outdoor and indoor environments, making them accessible to all people for all seasons.
Enjoy a peek into our 5-Step Process below. This is the foundation upon which we build, making adjustments based on audience, theme and location.
Step 1: Connect
The first step in Unearthing is to consciously connect with nature, recognizing that we are not separate.
“Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.”
— Gary Snyder, The Practice of the Wild
Surround yourself with nature and what happens? A shift immediately takes place. Your nervous system relaxes and cortisol levels—the body’s stress hormone—drop. It’s like you remember how to breathe again.
There are numerous studies that prove this. But the truth is, we don’t need studies; we know how we feel when we step into a park, walk through the woods, touch the ocean, add live greenery to our office, or place fresh flowers on our dining table.

Step 2: Collect
We are invited to marvel at nature’s miraculous diversity—collecting what we are most drawn to, from petals and pebbles to leaves and lichen.
“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
— W. B. Yeats
Remember when every experience was new and you were filled with wonder? You can cultivate that feeling again by allowing yourself to wander and discover nature’s miraculous diversity. This naturally reawakens curiosity and intuition, opening a portal to both the playful and the sacred.
Step 3: Create
Tuning into our bodies, using our senses and leaning into intuition, we co-create with nature based on a theme or prompts for direction and inspiration.
“Creativity is a fundamental aspect of being human. It’s our birthright. And it’s for all of us.”
— Rick Rubin, The Creative Act
Imagine relaxing in the arms of trust. How does it feel to be free of expectations? (Amazing, we promise.) This part of the journey often provides a profound sense of clarity and catharsis. It also reveals the destination (your creation!). We believe that whatever emerges for you holds meaning and relevance. It could be an answer to an age-old question or the start of a new story.

Step 4: Capture
Just like a dream, we can forget the insights that arose in the moment. By capturing our thoughts and impressions, we expand and enrich the experience.
“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”
— Mary Oliver
Time is always provided for journaling or making a voice recording to help you integrate the experience. You are also encouraged to take photos.
Step 5: Circle
We deepen in relationship with ourselves and one another when we sit in circle and share our stories.
“When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand.”
— Brenda Ueland, Tell Me More: On the Fine Art of Listening
Sitting in Circle, you are nourished as you actively listen, gifting your full attention. Likewise, sharing what you’ve learned, felt, thought and experienced is life-affirming for all who are present. The Circle is often where the greatest transformation takes place.
