This meditation invites you to reconnect with the awe and wonder you felt as a child in nature—or to try it for the first time. It’s magical!

Wandering allows us to return to a beginner’s mind, where everything is new and nothing is expected.

Whatever time is available to you is just the right amount, whether 15 seconds, 15 minutes, or an hour or more.

Meditation

Step 1: Grounding

  • Close your eyes
  • Take a deep breath–ahh
  • Feel Mother Earth supporting you
  • Notice how She holds all your weight
  • Take another deep breath–ahh
  • Imagine your feet are like a root system,
    • ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤpulling energy up from the ground into your body
    • and through to the crown of your head
  • Open your eyes

Step 2: Getting Lost

  • Open your eyes wide—even wider!
  • Attune your ears, what do you hear?
  • Open your heart, what direction is it pulling you?
  • Begin your exploration…
    • Wandering is a sharpening of senses,
      • and a letting go
  • Move slowly at first, aligning with the rhythms of nature as you (re)discover your surroundings
    • Once aligned (and in absolute accordance with your health and safety and those around you):
      • If you feel the impulse to skip—skip!
      • If you feel a yearning to run—run!
      • If you want to laugh, lie down or roll—do it!
  • Notice how it feels to adventure in nature without a specific goal or destination
  • Notice how it feels to be aware and mindful, yet free
  • You may desire to capture your experience in a journal or voice memo

Step 3: Gratitude

  • Take a deep breath
  • Behold the element one last time
  • Close with an offer of gratitude
